Byker Community Fire Station covers areas of both Newcastle and North Tyneside Councils.
The main response for water incidents and floods is based here and operational staff are trained as swiftwater rescue technicians. Equipment includes a fireboat for use on the River Tyne as well as smaller emergency rescue boats which attend incidents on the River Wear and other inland water risks.
It includes a community safety office and facilities for Fire Cadets. Its community safety centre has a 60 seat auditorium with presentation facilities and a meeting room for use by community groups.
