More about

This impressive late Georgian building contains two working judicial court rooms, a series of meeting rooms and a large assembly hall also used as a concert hall. The paintings are all portraits, a mix of important local landowners former members of parliament and Lord Lieutenants of the County, plus a portrait of George III on horseback. A platform lift to the right of the main door provides disabled access, there is a further platform lift inside the building to access the assembly hall.

The building is open to the public on weekdays during normal office hours. The pictures in the entrance hall and central corridor can be viewed at any time that the building is open. Those in the assembly hall can be viewed if this room is not being used. Those in the courts can only be viewed if the courts are not sitting (this is more likely at the end of the week than at the start of the week). Permission to see the pictures in the courts and assembly room should be sought from the Herefordshire Council custodian in the office by the side entrance to the building. The security guard on duty at the front of the building is employed by the courts and does not deal with building access.
