More about

The Museum of East Anglian Life has a small collection of oil paintings that have been donated over the years. These are mostly by local artists and feature rural scenes. The main subjects depicted include farm wagons, farmworkers and rural buildings as well as a portrait of a local dignitary. One of the most historically important paintings is of a 'Tithe Sale' that took place in Barking, Suffolk in 1941 and includes Lady Eve Balfour of Soil Association fame. The Museum is always looking to expand its collection of works that represent life in East Anglia over the last 150 years – if you would like to offer a painting to be considered for our collection, then please do get in touch.
