More about

Redbridge Museum explores the places, people and events in over 150,000 years of local community history. The majority of the Museum’s collection is either late nineteenth century or twentieth century in origin and is related to the suburban development of the local area, including the diverse communities who live in Redbridge today. There is a small fine art collection consisting of 75 works including oil paintings and watercolours, 16 prints and 9 drawings. These are mostly of local dignitaries or local scenes but the best examples of oil paintings are connected to the Ingleby family, the last private owners of Valentines Mansion, Ilford, which was restored and opened to the public in 2009 by Redbridge Council with the support of an award from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Several of the paintings associated with Valentines Mansion are displayed there. 'The Benediction of the Woods' is displayed at Hawkey Hall, Woodford Green and the remainder of the paintings are available to view upon prior request to Redbridge Museum.
