The University of St Mark & St John is located in Plymouth, in the south-west of England – perfectly situated to make the most of the countryside, moorland and coast. Originally two separate colleges based in London (St Mark’s in Chelsea and St John’s in Battersea), we have been successfully training teachers since 1840; the colleges merged in 1923 to become the College of St Mark & St John, and relocated to Plymouth in 1973. Our courses have diversified and we now offer a wide range across many subjects, specialising in education and sports courses and with around 3,500 students, we have built a reputation for being ‘small and friendly’. In 2013 we were awarded university status an became the University of St Mark & St John.
In 2007, Marjon was awarded Taught Degree Awarding Powers, providing university college status and enabling the college to accredit degrees – the college was retitled to become University College Plymouth St Mark & St John.
