Sizergh Castle, near Kendal, is now a National Trust property. The oak panels seen in the image were sold to the Victoria and Albert Museum in the 1890s before a successful campaign resulted in the panels being returned to their original setting in 1997. This watercolour is thought to be the only coloured image of this room in its original condition.
