This painting is Traquair's study for part of her mural on the west wall of the Catholic Apostolic Church in Mansfield Place, Edinburgh. This study shows the risen soul of the Virgin Mary being greeted by the Angel Gabriel. The full mural gives an uplifting vision and faced the congregation as they left the church. It illustrates the second coming of Christ. Christ is worshipped by all creation and gives God's blessing. Risen souls are greeted by angels. A heavenly choir sings and plays on harps and trumpets.
