Half-length frontal portrait of Bobby Charlton, the former professional footballer who played for Manchester United, wearing a blue blazer and a red and blue striped tie. He is seated at a table which is laid with a dinner setting, the large green table mat is in the style of a football pitch. He is eating a bowl of soup in which float tiny brown footballs. There is a Manchester United team photograph on the blue wall behind him, and the signature 'Bobby Charlton' can be seen in the top left corner. This particular work was part of a series for the Manchester Playboy Club, featuring portraits of well-known public figures from the twentieth century. All of the subjects are depicted eating, as the work was hung in the Restaurant area.
