Information from the artist about the work reads: ‘The commission was initiated by John Gray (Dundee City Council) for a double set of gates at the entrance to the building and a set of smaller ones at the side in Exchange Street, and a finial on top of the building. I think it was commissioned by the Scottish Children's Reporters Administration (SRCA). The building was designed by Ritchie Dagen & Allan and my design was fabricated by Adamson Fabrications (Dundee) Ltd.’
