Cloud and mist rising from the valley, leading up to the glaciers descending the face of the Grand Jorasses.

Williams was considered a serious and painstaking student of the Alps: he would establish a tent or small hut at a suitable viewpoint and spend days setting down his impressions – very similar to Gabriel Loppé.
