This artwork is by Beatrix Potter and is of a fungus called Lepiota procera, or parasol mushroom due to its tall stem. The piece is recorded as having been collected at Lennel, Coldstream in Scotland.

The cap has shaggy scales, which Beatrix has depicted, and the fungus is intolerant of shade.
