This is a study of the monkey puzzle tree that stands in the grounds of Carmarthenshire County Museum. Davies is best known for the powerful, enigmatic and often haunting imagery of his paintings. His works often depict an empty rural landscape devoid of people. He trained at Carmarthenshire College of Art, Portsmouth Polytechnic and North Staffordshire Polytechnic. His work has been included in exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts, The National Portrait Gallery, The Cricket Hill Gallery in New York, The Leith Gallery in Edinburgh and The Stephen Barclay Gallery in London amongst many others. In 1990 he won the Gold Medal for Fine Art at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. His work is held in numerous private collections and public collections such as The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery in Swansea.
