Until John’s death in 1920, the family lived at various addresses on Montgomery Street, a location that Maguire painted several times. He also painted views of Waterfoot Mill, Craigmill, Jackton and Kittochside, all of which lie in the vicinity of Eaglesham Parish. At least one of his works (not in the East Renfrewshire collection) was shown at the annual Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts exhibition during his lifetime.
