This banner includes the phrase 'Workers of the World Unite, you have nothing to lose but your chains', which is taken from the 'Communist Manifesto' written by Karl Marx and Freidrich Engels. It is not just mottos that appear on multiple banners. The image of the robed lady is inspired by the work of Walter Crane. The company George Tutill who made this banner often took inspiration from Crane's work and used such images on several banners.
