Mario Dubsky was born in London in 1939 to Viennese-émigré parents, who had recently arrived as refuges from Nazism. After the Slade, Dubsky went to Rome in 1963 on an Abbey Major Scholarship, which enabled him to travel widely around Europe. In 1969 on a visit to New York, he co-created a 40 foot-long mural for the Gay Activists’ Alliance Building, the Firehouse.
Dubsky was an inspirational teacher and taught at Wimbledon and Camberwell Schools of Art and the Royal College of Art. His work is represented in many public collections including Tate and the Arts Council of Great Britain.
