In 2018, art historian Bendor Grosvenor suggested that the Knightshayes picture could, in fact, be a study by Rembrandt for his self portrait of c.1628 in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The painting became the subject of BBC Four's 'Britain’s Lost Masterpieces', first broadcast on 15th August 2018.

This artwork is shown both pre-conservation and post-conservation.
