The First Funeral' or 'Les Premieres Funerailles, Adam et Eve portant Abel' or 'Abel' consists of the biblical characters Adam and Eve carrying the dead Abel for burial. An 'Art Journal' article of 1895 states that this work had been shown at the Paris Salon 'a few years ago'. The foundry mark reads 'Thiébaut Frères'.
