‘The Fun Shop’ is one of a series of paintings of shop windows and shop interiors. Plastic toys and flowers with vivid colours were beginning to become commonplace during the ‘60s. During this period of time, Jacqueline Stanley experimented with the use of early fluorescent paints to create the vibrancy of the plastic colours seen in the shop windows, and she also began to explore the introduction of 3D elements into some of her paintings, such as the yellow wooden window frame integral to this piece of work.
