Interested followers stand in the background to the left, and there is a bare bodied young man in top left foreground, leaning forward over the body. Christ, Mary Magdelen and Martha are illuminated in the painting. The corpse is depicted in heavy shadow, his body is a neutral grey colour. The illuminated figures wear clothes rich in tone coloured with shades of red, light purple and gold.
