This painting has been donated to the hospital by the artist Madeleine Enright, in memory of her husband Professor D. J. Enright.

Dennis Enright OBE, 1920–2002, was an academic, distinguished poet, novelist and critic, and general man of letters. He gained some notoriety in his opening address as Professor of English at the University of Singapore, to encourage Singapore and Malaya to become more culturally open, he commented: 'Art does not begin in a test, it does not take its origin in good sentiments and clean-shaven, upstanding young thoughts.'
