Upper Right: 'William Lancaster D.D. Archdeacon of Middlesex and Provost of Queen's College Oxford. Vice Chancellor of the University of the ancient family of Sockbridge Hall and Howgill Lineal descendant of John of Gaunt Duke of Lancaster he was rector of St Martin of the Fields. He restored Queen's Coll. and endowed it. He died Feb IV MDCCXVI.'
