Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service provides a wide ranging safety service to more than 890,000 people living and working within a 2,500 square mile area of the south east of Scotland. Our small painting collection is mainly displayed in the Museum of Fire at Lauriston Place in the heart of Edinburgh, which takes you through the stories of the oldest municipal fire brigade in the United Kingdom and transports visitors back in time to experience the proud and exciting history of Scotland’s beautiful capital city and the role firefighters have played in it over the years. The artefacts found in the museum chart the development of firefighting over more than 400 years.
