The historic Belper North Mill on the River Derwent at Belper, Derbyshire, is one of the oldest surviving examples of industrialised water powered cotton spinning mills in the world. The North Mill has a collection of cotton spinning machinery, original and replica, representing the whole history of spinning from the drop spindle to Crompton's mule. There is also an exceptionally fine collection of silk and cotton hosiery.
Belper North Mill is open to the public during March and October, from Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays, from 1pm–5pm. During winter months it is open on Saturday and Sunday only, from 1pm–5pm. Admission fees apply.
