More about

The Silk Mill stands on the site of the world’s first modern factory - the silk mill of John and Thomas Lombe - and is part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. There are displays on Derbyshire’s industries and working life including mining, brick making, textiles, railway engineering, power for industry and Rolls-Royce aero engines. A small number of paintings of industrial subjects, from the Derby Museums and Art Gallery's collection, have been displayed at this site.
