Glendurgan is one of the Cornish coastal gardens created in these valleys from the 1820s onwards by members of the Quaker shipping family, the Foxes of Falmouth, beginning with Alfred Fox (1794–1874). It was given by his grandson Cuthbert and his wife Moyra, and their son, Philip, to the National Trust in 1962 – the bicentenary of the family firm. The relatively undistinguished house is not open to the public.
